Technical specification
The system allows for management of a
multi-departmental company. Each department has its own mini-server
which can operate independently of the others and does not require
constant connection with the central. Owing to this, the
departments can operate also in case of an Internet connection
failure.
Directories, global dictionaries and e.g. information about
contractor's settlements are global (shared by many departments),
whereas documents are located in the registry of the issuing
department and in the central database. All changes or new
documents are replicated immediately after their introduction,
therefore the time of updating data in the central and optionally
in other departments is limited only by the performance of the
network connection and on temporary connection loads. Documents of
inter-warehouse transfer are shared between source and target
departments and are automatically sent between them via the
central.
The system user interface operates in the
Web-like model - as an Intranet or Internet RIA application
launched in a Web browser. Each department has its server to which
client stations connect. In case of departments with low load, one
of workstations may operate as the department server.
Any computer with a Web browser, Adobe Flash Player and a PDF file
reader (e.g. Adobe Reader) can be a workstation. Therefore, any
operating system and hardware platform may be used on client
workstations. The server (the department and central one) must be a
machine supplied with Microsoft SQL Server and an operating system
from the Microsoft Windows family.
